Palisade Peach Festival

August 27, 2017

Every year I look forward to the peach harvest! Palisade, CO, grows amazing peaches and at the end of the summer they hold their annual peach festival in the charming town of Palisade.

After a day of swimming at the Glenwood Springs Hot Springs, we headed west for the second day of the Palisade Peach Festival.

GETTING THERE:

The town of Palisade is located 76 miles west of Glenwood Springs and 13 miles east of Grand Junction. Palisade is located right off of I-70 at Exit 42.

PARKING:

The Peach Festival is very popular. We followed signs to the Free Shuttle Lots and took a school bus to the entrance (my 4 yo thought that the school bus was amazing).

ENTRANCE FEES:

When we arrived there was no line and were able to pay our entrance fee with a credit card. As of 2017, kids 5 and under are free!

Inside the Peach Festival there are several tents set up selling various gifts, crafts, food, drinks, etc. There are also several different activities to do (some for an extra fee). There was a small bungee jumping area and camel rides.

At the very end of the festival is a stage with a live band. We loved eating and drinking all sort of peach treats-peach ice cream, peach wine, peach lemonade, plain peaches!

They hold quite a few peach activities- a peach eating contest, chef demonstrations, tours of the peach fields, a peach recipe contest, parade, and pancake breakfast, among other activities.

It is very HOT in Palisade! The temperature was in the low 90s and we were there late afternoon. There were several different water bottle filling stations so make sure to bring your water bottle.

After enjoying our treats we explored this cute little town. We ended up buying honey outside of the festival at a stand, peaches at McLean’s, and wine from Varaison Vineyards.

This town’s love for peaches is obvious at every corner. There even is a Peach Ave. The town is not very big and there is a cute little downtown area as well.

Check back for their 2018 festival dates! This event only happens once a year

Everything that we write about is our own opinion and experience. PLEASE always check with the original source as exhibits, prices, location, terrain, hours, availability, etc., may have changed from when we went to current day .

LOCATION: It’s a small town- we just followed the signs to the free parking shuttle lots
