It’s almost time for a break from school! Here are some of our favorite activities that would be a perfect way to fill your time 🙂
1. Go on a Hike
Not going on a hike is like people who live by the beach and never go! Truth be told we were not big hikers before kids, so having little people with a ton of energy has been a good motivating factor for the whole family. Some good hikes for this warm but not hot weather: Cheyenne Mountain State Park, Red Rock Canyon Open Space, Siamese Twins Trail at Garden of the Gods.
Just like a vacation where you pack and leave, this will require a little planning. Sometimes being a tourist in your own city is very eye opening! Check out our Staycation from Summer 2016 with some ideas on what to do.
3. Visit a Museum
There are so many great museums that are within an hour’s drive of Colorado Springs. Some of our favorites: Children’s Museum of Denver, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Downtown Aquarium in Denver, Peterson Air and Space Museum, and the Space Foundation Discovery Center.
4. Explore a New Playground
Do a quick google map search of your neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods, and you will more than likely discover a park that you never knew was even there. Here are some pictures from parks that we’ve discovered over the past couple of months: This one in Briargate and this one at Palmer Lake. Plus we always love our neighborhood park!
5. Visit a Ski Town
There are several amazing ski towns that are 2-3 hours from Colorado Springs. We just love going to Vail and Breckenridge (and we do not ski!). Again, it’s just like people who live near the beach and never go! I am always so glad when we get away for the day and drive to ski towns. There’s great people watching, great restaurants, and usually fantastic playgrounds (Vail had some of our favorites). If you’re up for a little bit of a drive, Aspen will not let you down!
Enjoy and Happy Spring Break!
