We are always looking for new trails and hikes that are kid-friendly. Sometimes it doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just a place to get out and enjoy the sunshine.
We decided on a very warm Saturday at the end of October to try Foothills Trail in Garden of the Gods. We wanted to find a trail that was paved so that the older boys could ride their bikes and wasn’t too steep.
To access Foothills Trail, we parked at the Visitor’s Center on 30th, and walked to the west end of the parking lot. There’s a steep hill that is paved that we walked down and walked under 30th St.
Foothills Trail is on the far east end of Garden of the Gods Park, runs parallel to 30th St and is paved the entire length north of Gateway Road (which is the main road to enter into the park off of 30th St).
This trail I would classify as easy. Stroller friendly, bike friendly, wheelchair friendly, family friendly.
Boys’ ages at time of hike: 5, 3, and 1.
