Winter in Colorado can be a drag if you’re not skiing or snowboarding (which we most definitely are not at this time in our life). Exercise and outside time is so good for everyone in the family, so today we ventured to the Air Force Academy to do a little exploring. I always write off this place as I think, “well, I have been there before.” However, the last time I was there I was 8 months pregnant with our oldest. Therefore our kids have never been there and it was time to take some fresh eyes!
Our first stop was the old B52 airplane about a half mile west of the North entrance. Our little boys thought this was quite spectacular. It was definitely cold, but we were outside long enough to get some of that crazy boy energy out.
Next we drove to the Visitor Center to see the glider, then took the short (1/3 mile) paved walk over to the chapel.
There is an excellent view of 4 more planes, plus we did a quick inside tour of the chapel to see the colors of the stained glass windows! Overall we were not there too long, but long enough to expose them to some new sights and still be home for lunch.
