Hammond’s Candies is located on the north side of Denver. This candy factory produces several different kinds of candy (and fudge!) and offers tours year round.
If you are interested in taking kids on a factory tour, this is a great place to start. Every year in December they host a Candy Cane Festival and they provide additional entertainment to include games, bounce houses, Santa Claus, fire trucks, etc. We have attended the Candy Cane Festival 3 times (2011, 2014, 2015) so our kids have been pretty much every small age each of those years. The tour is not very long which is great for small attention spans, and my boys have all been very interested in watching the candy being made.
While you can purchase a ticket for some of the additional entertainment, we have never paid for anything extra and still have thoroughly enjoyed our visit. This past year (2015) the boys visited Santa for the first time- they allowed us to do this without purchasing any tickets if we used our own cameras. They say strollers are not allowed, but I have been able to take my stroller in the past. This most recent time I just parked the stroller outside and put the baby in the Ergo. I definitely recommend Hammond’s Candies to expose kids to a factory tour! (For young kids who love Curious George an excellent book accommodation is Curious George Goes to a Chocolate Factory)
