Rainbow Gulch Trail is a kid-friendly hike that is not too far from Colorado Springs. Located near Rampart Reservoir, this trail is easy for little kids.
There were hundreds of butterflies on the day that we went which my kids just loved and had fun chasing. The boys were 4, 2, and 3 months.
One of the boys walked the entire way, our 2 year old had to be carried for a bit, and the baby was in the Ergo. There is a creek with rushing water so be sure to use caution with kids near the water.
The trail goes down a hill for approximately 1.5 miles and ends at Rampart Reservoir. We did not walk the entire way down to the lake. This trail is stroller friendly.
Location: Highway 24 West up to Woodland Park, turn right at S Baldwin St (which is right by the McDonalds), then right on County Road 22/Rampart Range Road (which takes you past several Woodland Park schools), and take Rampart Range Road and follow the signs to Rampart Reservoir. The trailhead is before the entrance to Rampart Reservoir. The parking area will be a large area on the left side of the road with a large gate. Map here
