Touch A Truck is a fundraiser that is held annually by the Junior League of Colorado Springs. Our first time attending this event was the 2015 Touch A Truck. The boys were 3 and 2, and it was on a snowy January day (hallelujah for an inside activity in January) and held at the Mortgage Solutions Financial Expo Center. When you get there you purchase tickets and are then free to explore the trucks. I didn’t count the number of trucks, but my guess was maybe 30? There is a wide variety of trucks that kids can touch, climb on, ‘drive,’ explore, hear, and just experience!
The trucks are all safely parked inside the arena. Trucks that were there this year included a fire truck, ambulance, military trucks, tractors, front loaders, street cleaners, garbage trucks, a boat (ok, not a truck but was with the Division of Wildlife), food truck, and other constructions trucks that I don’t know the name of.
My boys were in heaven. One of my boys isn’t even into trucks and he just loved it. We were there for several hours and all of the Junior League volunteers and keepers of the trucks were very helpful and encouraging of all of the kids to explore. What I also love is that the first night of this three-day event is a sensory-friendly night.
