The Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad is a fun train ride for kids of all ages. We went in September 2014 when our older boys were 3, 22 months, and I was pregnant with our third boy. If you time it just right, it can be a spectacular time and location to view the fall colors.
This time when we went the colors had not quite changed yet. When you get there, there is a little depot station where you purchase tickets. There is some waiting around for the train to arrive back at the station, so depending on your kids’ attention levels it might not hurt to bring something to entertain them. The train has several cars to choose from, and we rode in one with open windows. At this time our oldest was not a fan of sitting still for very long, so lollipops definitely came in handy (and I think he paid more attention to his lollipop than he did the train).
The trip was approximately 40 minutes. I wish it was a loop, but it comes back the same direction that it went in the first place. I think I would love to try this train again now that my boys are a little bit older. My middle boy especially is really into trains so going into it again would be a whole new experience for him, even though he’s already been once.
**I am not sure if this train runs year round or just seasonal. I would definitely call ahead of time- 719-689-2640**
