Rampart Reservoir is accessible through Woodland Park and is about 30 minutes west of Colorado Springs (well, depends on where in the Springs you are coming from). Rampart Reservoir has been Erick’s fishing spot with his buddies for years. We took the kids here in May 2014 when they were 2 (just a month before his 3rd birthday) and 18 months. Our first stop was the Donut Mill which this trip was actually their first time visiting the Donut Mill.
We then headed over to Rampart Reservoir, parked, then headed down to the water along one of the paths. What commenced the rest of the time was 2 very happy boys throwing rocks into the water for a very long time.
This time we did not hike along Rampart Reservoir, I think my kids were too all over the place for that to happen. But, the scenery is gorgeous and the rock throwing was seriously what made the trip worth the drive.
